Israel: What Comes Next?
27/02/13
On 22 January, Israel went to the polls. Join the New Statesman’s friends and contributors for an evening of post-elections discussion. What are the chances for peace, human rights and prosperity in the region? We’ll also be looking ahead to the upcoming Palestinian elections later this year.
Panelists to include:
Avi Shlaim – emeritus professor of international relations at Oxford and author of “Israel and Palestine: Reappraisals, Revisions, Refutations” (Verso Books)
Rachel Shabi – journalist and author of “Not the Enemy: Israel’s Jews from Arab Lands” (Yale)
Karma Nabulsi – fellow in Politics, St Edmund Hall, Oxford and author of “Traditions of War” (OUP)
Dimi Reider – co-founder of +972 magazine and associate fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations
UPDATE: Avi Shlaim has had to pull out of tonight’s event because of a family emergency. We’ll have a replacement panelist.
