Luay Abdulilah

We are delighted to host author Luay Abdulilah to speak about his novel Comedy of Divine Love. Using the theme of fall and exile he narrates the story of several Iraqis who come of age in the difficult 1950s.
Luay Abdulilah is an Iraqi fiction writer, translator, essayist and Arabic lecturer who has resided in London since 1985. He has published three collections of short stories, a novel and written for Arabic newspapers and magazines including Al-Hayat and Azzaman. He has worked as a full-time translator for Asharqalawsat newspaper and has been a visiting lecturer in Arabic at the SOAS Language Centre and University of Westminster since 1999.
There will be readings by the author in Arabic and also Amir Taheri will talk about the novel in English and writer and editor Ananda Pellerin will read excerpts of the novel in English. Copies of the book will be available for purchase in Arabic and for signings.
