This is a Creative Quarter event for 13-19 year olds.

The Mosaic Rooms is delighted to host a discussion with the artist Peter Kennard:

Friday 16th November 2012, 3pm-4pm

Peter Kennard has worked as an artist since the late 1960s dealing with social and political issues. In this demonstration/discussion, he will show how it is possible to make images that engage with issues of human rights, climate change and poverty. He will talk about how his art has been used as part of anti-war campaigns globally and how it is possible to survive as an artist making work that is not based on selling individual art objects but by finding other ways to disseminate the work into the world.

He will discuss his aims as an artist to make work that communicates to a non-specialist general public, especially to young people, and how through harnessing digital technology it is now possible for  young people to express their beliefs through visual means.

Peter Kennard is a photography lecturer at The Royal College of Art. His work is in many public collections including Tate, Victoria & Albert Museum and the Arts Council, and is to be found on the streets in the form of t-shirts, posters, badges and placards.

Exhibition Road’s Creative Quarter, is a packed day of free workshops, talks and performances at ten different locations along and around Exhibition Road, London SW7. This free event aimed at 13-19 year olds is a unique chance for young people to learn about future careers in the creative industries. It provides a chance to meet professional artists, designers and scientists through a series of free drop-in activities, workshops, talks and demonstrations.
