Supper Clubs

Food is the heart of domestic life and The Mosaic Rooms new series of Supper Clubs celebrates the cooking and stories that surround food from the diverse Middle Eastern cultures found in London. This series will comprise of a series of intimate evenings, hosted by well known MENA chefs, where guests can learn about the food and the skills to make it and most importantly eat and enjoy it!

We launched the programme in autumn 2012 with acclaimed writers and chefs Sarah al-Hamad and Lamees Ibrahim. Sarah al-Hamad is a writer, photographer, home cook and the author of Cardamom and Lime: Recipes from the Arabian Gulf, and Sun Bread and Sticky Toffee: Date Desserts from Everywhere. Lamees Ibrahim’s first book The Iraqi Cookbook was published in 2009 to great success, with recipes featured on the Guardian online, and due to popular demand she has begun hosting cookery classes and dinners.

The Mosaic Rooms was delighted to continue the supper club programme by bringing it in-house, hosting the supper clubs within our exhibition rooms. This was launched with a supper club which offered an introduction to Syrian cuisine hosted by award winning cookery author Nada Saleh in autumn 2013. It has continued in 2014 with Lamees Ibrahim returning to host a special Valentine’s Day supper club. In May 2014 we hosted an Algerian inspired supper club by Chris Benarab, executive chef at award winning restaurant Azou Restaurant and in August food writer, journalist, broadcaster, blogger and the author of numerous award-winning cookbooks, Anissa Helou hosted a Syrian inspired summer supper club with a delicious menu celebrating the food from this region of the Levant.
